BBMP nameplate ban on garbage vehicles

The corporation has issued guidelines for garbage vehicles, and has directed that no BBMP nameplates can be placed on the vehicles.

Brihat Bangalore Mahanagara Corporation has issued an order banning the mention of BBMP on all auto tippers and compactors supplied by contractors of the corporation's solid waste management department.

In this regard, on the direction of the Chief Commissioner of BBMP, a circular was issued by the Special Commissioner of Solid Waste Division and Planning Division, that the contractors on the vehicles operating in solid waste collection, transportation and disposal under the jurisdiction of Brihat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike are 'in the service of the Corporation/BBMP/BBMP in service/Brihat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike'. He said that it will be noticed that they are working with unauthorized registration/nameplates.

Further, it has been observed that vehicles transporting construction materials required for the works carried out on behalf of the Corporation are being operated with unauthorized name plates stating that they are in the service of the Corporation.

It has been instructed that the concerned assistant executive inspectors, junior health inspectors should carry out the inspection of driving physical fitness certificate, vehicle fitness certificate, insurance certificates and other inspections as per the necessary laws.

Zonal and Ward Marshals, Junior Health Inspectors should take action to remove vehicles with unauthorized nameplates on roads, contractors' vehicles in service of Corporation with nameplates bearing BBMP.

If the installation of name plates comes to the notice of the police department and other authorities, legal action will be taken against the drivers and owners of such vehicles, BBMP said.
